It can be seen from above that confirmed prevalence of Acute Illness
is higher in Rural Chhattisgarh (9.7% for males and 10.5% for females) than in Urban
Chhattisgarh (7.9% for males and 9.1% for females). In both the areas, females
are more acute ill than males. Seeking
of regular treatment is little higher in urban areas than rural for both the
sexes. Government Sources are not popular in Urban than rural areas. Probably, private facilities may be better
equipped as compared to Government set up in urban areas and the availability
of Government facilities may be better in rural areas as compared to the
private sector clinics and affordability problem may be the second best reason
for rural Chhattisgarh for depending more on Government Sources. Only 14% of urban persons utilize the
Government facilities, whereas 21.5% of rural persons use Government facilities. Thus, Government needs to strengthen the
health care system in Chhattisgarh, particularly in cities and towns, so that
public may have to spend less from their pocket on health care.
