Decline in Maternal Mortality Ratio in Uttar Pradesh State in India over the period 2010-12 was by 45 points

According to Annual Health Survey, maternal mortality ratio in Uttar Pradesh state, which stood at 345 per lakh of live births in year 2010-11, declined to 300 per lakh of live births in year 2011-12 i.e. by 45 points.  The same was 440 (combined for UP and Uttarakhand) as seen through SRS in the years 2004-06.

The same may be a result of effective implementation of maternal safety programmes in Uttar Pradesh i.e. by effectively implementing the Central Scheme of Janani Suraksha Yojana etc
