Considerable decline in maternal mortality ratio in Madhya Pradesh State in India

According to annual health survey, maternal mortality ratio in Madhya Pradesh state, which stood at 310 per lakh of live births in year 2010-11, declined to 277 per lakh of live births in year 2011-12 i.e. by 33 points.  The same was 335 (combined for MP and Chhatisgarh) as seen through SRS in the years 2004-06.

The same may be a result of effective implementation of maternal safety programmes in Madhya Pradesh i.e. by effectively implementing the Central Scheme of Janani Suraksha Yojana etc.

Now a target has been set under Mamta Abhiyan launched by the present Chief Minister on National Safe Motherhood Day to further reduce maternal mortality ratio to 200 points during year 2013-14.
