According to annual health survey, maternal mortality ratio in Madhya
Pradesh state, which stood at 310 per lakh of live births in year 2010-11,
declined to 277 per lakh of live births in year 2011-12 i.e. by 33 points. The same was 335 (combined for MP and
Chhatisgarh) as seen through SRS in the years 2004-06.
The same may be a result of effective implementation of maternal
safety programmes in Madhya Pradesh i.e. by effectively implementing the
Central Scheme of Janani Suraksha Yojana etc.
Now a target has been set under Mamta Abhiyan launched by the
present Chief Minister on National Safe Motherhood Day to further reduce
maternal mortality ratio to 200 points during year 2013-14.
