In India where there are many households which do not have roof over their head, about 25 million census houses were found to be vacant

The highlights of the above data after its analysis are:
Ø  In India where there are many households which do not have roof over their head, about 25 million census houses were found to be vacant.
Ø  These vacant houses comprise seven and a half percent of total number of houses in India.
Ø  The maximum such vacancy was noted in GOA and was about 22%.
Ø  The other States with two digit vacancy were: Gujarat (13.7%), Himachal Pradesh (11.8%), Maharashtra (11.2%), Kerala (10.6%), Rajasthan (10.2%) and   Karnataka (10%).
Ø  The UTs with two digit vacancy were: Dadra & Nagar Haveli (17.3%), Daman & Diu (16.3%), Lakshadweep (16%), A & N Islands (13.7%) and NCT Delhi ( 11.1%).
Over 3.7 million houses in Maharashtra were vacant.  Even in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh over two million houses were found to be vacant.
