IN EIGHT HIGH FOCUS STATES OF INDIA OVER 73.5 MILLION HOUSEHOLDS ARE STILL DEFECATING IN OPEN

It may be seen from the above simple calculations that in the eight EAG States, population is over 555 million and they form about 110 million households.  One third of the households are having access to Toilet Facility i.e. over 73.5 million urban households or about 370 million people are still defecating in the open in these states of India.  It could also be observed that in the hill state of Uttarakhand, it is 22.3 percent of the households live in such a condition and is being considered better part of this world in this respect.  Odisha followed by Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattishgarh are worst placed in this respect.
