* Annual Health Survey, 2010-11; + Census 2011
It
may be seen from the above simple calculations that in the eight EAG States, urban
population is over 117.3 million and they form about 23.5 million
households. About eleven and a half
percent of them are still using Kerosene as main source of Light. i.e. over 2.7
million urban households or about 14 million people are still using Kerosene as
their main source of Light. It could
also be observed that in the hill state of Uttarakhand, it is merely 2.1 percent
of the households live in such a condition.
Bihar followed by Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand are
worst placed in this respect.
