The prevalence of Acute Illness in
Jharkhand was 5537 per lakh population i.e. around 5.5%. The prevalence was
higher in rural areas (6.1%) as compared to urban areas (3.9%). Further, the
prevalence of Acute Illness was observed higher among females (5.83%) as
compared to males (5.26%). The trend was similar in both rural and urban areas.
The details on persons suffering from
specific acute illnesses such as Diarrhea, Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) and Fever are presented

The prevalence of fever alone was 3.9%
it being higher in rural areas (4.3%) as compared to urban areas (2.6%).
Diarrhea/ Dysentery had prevalence of 0.4%. The prevalence of ARI was at 0.8%.
These 3 diseases together account for
about 92% of acute illnesses as could be seen from the table below:
