The prevalence of Acute Illness in Uttar
Pradesh was 12561 per lakh population i.e. around 12.56%. The prevalence was slightly
higher in rural areas as compared to urban areas. Further, the prevalence of
Acute Illness was observed slightly higher among females as compared to males.
The trend was similar in both rural and urban areas.
The AHS the details on persons
suffering from specific acute illnesses such as Diarrhea, Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI)
and Fever are presented as under:

The prevalence of fever alone was 7.6%
it being higher in rural areas (7.7%) as compared to urban areas (7.2%).
Diarrhea/ Dysentery had prevalence of 1.2% it being again higher in rural areas
(1.3%) as compared to urban areas (0.9%). The prevalence of ARI was 3.0%, it
being higher in rural areas (3.3%) as compared to urban areas (2.13%).
These
3 diseases together account for about 93.7% of acute illnesses;
