Top Ten Heavy States in India Are Moving With Faster Pace towards Their Urbanization and so is All India

The top ten heavy states in India, in terms of its population, in order are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Gujarat.  Their share in India’s 1.21 billion populations as seen in 2011 census is three fourth (77%). The top ten heavy urban states in India, in terms of its urban population, are not the same.  These, in order from top to tenth place, are Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and NCT of Delhi.  And these states also have three fourth (77%) share in India’s urban population of 377.1 millions.  Only replacement in the first list is Bihar by NCT Delhi and Bihar’s rank is 11 in the new list of top heavy urban states.  The growth of urban population in these states is also much more than overall growth in their respective populations.  In fact the growth of urban population in all the states, big or small, is much more than their respective overall growth in their populations. Thus India is moving with faster pace towards urbanization.
