The following table compares conduct
of safe deliveries at the time NFHS -3 (2005-06) and AHS (2007-09). One may observe that almost all the
considered states show improvement in the conduct of deliveries. Either these are undertaken in private or
government health facilities or at home by some skilled health personnel.

The maximum change observed is with respect to
what used to happen in the States of Madhya Pradesh (EAG State) and in
Assam. In 2005-06, the states which were
in the lowest rug in this respect were Uttar Pradesh (UP), Jharkhand, Bihar,
Assam, Madhya Pradesh (MP) and so on(in order from lowest to higher in
rank). But in the year 2007-09) the
states in the lowest rug (although status has much improved over the small
period) are Jharkhand, Chattishgarh, UP, Bihar, Uttrakhand and so on. One may comment that the States Uttarakhand
and Chhattishgarh did not improve much from the good level as compared with
others. Other states like UP, Jharkhand
and Bihar still travel in the same boat as in the just past.
